* Average flow rate over 60 minutes
** Peak flow rate over less than 10 minutes
The CNS range covers average flow rates from 1,000 to 12,000 litres per hour and can be adapted to the needs of laboratories, bioproduction facilities, and industrial sites handling continuous effluent streams.
Technology
The CNS is based on a continuous neutralization technology that automatically regulates effluent pH as it flows through the system.
A neutralization tank acts as a buffer vessel to absorb pH fluctuations from incoming effluents, while an automated control system manages the injection of the required reagents to maintain the target pH range.
Standard features
- Automated continuous neutralization
- Automatic acid and caustic soda injection
- Buffer tank function
- Polyethylene neutralization tank
- Polyethylene validation tank
- Pumping skid with high-flow centrifugal pump
- Electrical control cabinet
- Automatic pH control
- Fully automated operation
Operating principle
Effluents are directed into a neutralization tank where mixing and homogenization take place.
Automatic acid and caustic soda injection adjusts the pH according to process requirements. A pH probe installed in the recirculation loop continuously controls the dosing pumps to maintain the target value.
The neutralization tank acts as a buffer vessel, absorbing pH fluctuations caused by incoming effluents. Its volume ensures a contact time of approximately 30 minutes, allowing the neutralization reaction to be completed.
The mixing pump continuously agitates the entire tank volume at a flow rate greater than five times the tank volume, ensuring optimal dilution and mixing of the injected reagents.
A validation tank then collects a sample to verify pH compliance before discharge:
- if the pH is compliant, the effluents are discharged;
- if the pH is not compliant, the effluents are automatically returned to the neutralization tank for further treatment.
Why choose the CNS system?
The CNS system provides fully automated continuous effluent neutralization with permanent pH monitoring and automatic validation before discharge. FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the CNS System
What is a continuous neutralization system?
A continuous neutralization system automatically adjusts effluent pH in real time to maintain compliant discharge conditions throughout plant operation.
What is the capacity of the CNS range?
The CNS range covers average flow rates from 1,000 to 12,000 litres per hour depending on the selected model.
What types of effluents can be treated?
The CNS can treat chemical effluents, biological effluents, CIP discharges, wash water, and effluents from continuous decontamination systems.
What is the outlet pH of the CNS system?
Depending on the selected configuration, the CNS can treat effluents with an inlet pH ranging from 0 to 14 and achieve an outlet pH between 6.5 and 8.
How is the pH controlled?
A pH probe located in the recirculation loop automatically controls the acid and caustic soda dosing pumps to maintain the target pH range.
Why is a validation tank used?
The validation tank verifies pH compliance before discharge. If the pH is outside the acceptable range, the effluents are automatically returned to the neutralization tank for additional treatment.
What is the difference between the CNS and the BNS?
The CNS treats effluents continuously with permanent pH regulation, while the BNS processes defined volumes in successive batches. The choice mainly depends on the operating mode and the volume of effluents to be treated.
